…is all I can think about as soon as I step outside of my house. It is very cold here in Philly, and as always when winter comes around, I get sick and I get pale. Now when it’s cold or if I’m sick, my favorite thing to eat is homemade soup, and when I’m pale I stock up on carrots to soak up all that beta-carotene and (hopefully) get a nice halo. For this final edition of my sweet potato series, I decided I’d make a quick stop to Asia and incorporate the last third of my potato into a delicious noodle soup. Since I hadn’t roasted it earlier, I figured I’d switch it up a bit and boil it instead. Now the thing is that boiled potatoes usually taste quite bland. So I made the best out of it and came up with this amazing noodle soup where it actually makes sense to have them boiled. Score! Today, I decided to play around with textures! I wanted that to drive my dish and to come up with something that would be fun and original to eat. So I sat down at my desk with pen and paper and something pretty amazing came out of it. Though I usually focus on the mix of flavors in a plate, blending textures can also add great depth to a dish.
